As someone who works in a high stress environment, finding ways to unwind after a stressful week at work is key. Personally, fishing does it for me. There’s nothing better than the chance to catch your own meal with a few friends and a cold beer. A lot of people can’t seem to wrap their heads around just how relaxing and fun fishing can be. I’ve gone fishing with a few friends who didn’t have the patience to sit around all day and just enjoy it, and that wasn’t a great experience. What I’m saying is, if you want to enjoy fishing, you should commit yourself to it, but don’t take it too seriously.
If you’re new to fishing, and trying to learn all there is to it before your first trip – don’t sweat it. You can’t become a good angler just by reading and watching videos online. You’ll have your ups and downs, more downs than ups at the beginning, but it’s not a big deal, that’s all a part of the learning process.
The skill curve in fishing is immense, you’ll probably never be great at it, and that’s okay. You aren’t there to compete or anything, just enjoy a peaceful afternoon with familiar faces in a stress-free environment and make memories. Something I did when I started this hobby is video record the entire trip, and hope to catch a funny Youtube worth moment.
More often than not, nothing interesting happened, but when it did, it was all worth it. There’s nothing like seeing one of your friends get scared by a huge Murray Cod and drop it back in the water, or tripping on the slippery surface and falling right into the water. These are some of the moments you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
Moreover, you can watch a fishing funny video online and learn what NOT to do on your first trip. That way you’ll realize that you aren’t as bad as you thought you were. There are a lot of videos on youtube, and other web sites that have tons of blooper videos. And who knows, perhaps you’ll upload a fishing funny video yourself, and become an online sensation.
Bottom line is, fishing can be really relaxing and fun if you tackle every challenge with patience and good friends. You can make a lot of memories to reminisce over with friends at dinner parties. It’s even better if you bring along a camera to catch a few slip and falls.
