Whenever the topic of barbecuing comes up, everyone has a different opinion about almost everything. What place has the best-grilled food, what’s the best grill type, the coolest grill accessories, cooking times, cuts of meat, cooking methods, marinades, sauces and everything in between will be argued like there’s no tomorrow. However, what everyone can agree on is the love for great-tasting, grilled food. If you’re considering opening a Grill House, then you need a great commercial grill to ensure the quality of the food that comes out of your kitchen appeases the demands and expectations of most customers.
The two most popular types of commercial grills are charcoal and gas grills. However, lately, commercial kitchen equipment manufacturers have come up with a unique type of commercial grills – charcoal and gas combo grills. These combination grills give you the best of both worlds – you can choose which fuel to use, or you can use both if you want to. It’s common knowledge that some flavours come out better on a gas grill, while others come out better on charcoal. A combo grill gives you the option to experience both flavours, while giving you the speed and versatility to direct cook and slow cook at the same time.
Another huge benefit of combination grills is that you can use whatever fuel you have on hand. There aren’t many things as frustrating as running out of gas halfway through the night. So instead of having to run and grab more propane, you can just fire up the charcoal side of the grill to finish cooking, or conversely.
However, at the end of the day, everything has disadvantages, and combo grills are no exception. Even though the advantages of using a combo grill far outweigh the disadvantages, there still are disadvantages. For instance, combo grills take up more space than a charcoal or gas grill. While this may not seem like a major issue, consider that you’ll have to clean up the grill every time before using it, meaning there will be quite a lot of cleaning space to cover. Even if you limit yourself on using just one side of the combo grill, you’ll still probably have to clear all of it, depending on the design.
When all is said and done, there are many advantages to buying a combo grill as part of your commercial kitchen equipment. There are many different models and types available for every budget. The quality and the capabilities of the grill will depend on how much you’re willing to pay, but that’s not always the case. For this very reason, you should do a fair amount of research before investing in a particular model.
