Pallet racking is a system used for assisting the material handling process in warehouses and production facilities. In fact, the pallet racking has become an essential part of any warehouse business, as ti provides increased efficiency and better space utilization. A pallet racking system, or also known as pallet rack, is capable to hold heavy loads and pallets in one place. The pallet rack is used in large warehouses, and can be a great addition to all businesses with smaller storage capacities as well. The pallet rack comes in different dimensions to suit different applications.
The main components of the pallet rack are: frame height, cross beam and wire mesh decking. The wire mesh decking provides an additional safety to your pallet racking system. These large and durable pallet racks are not only capable to deal with extremely heavy loads, but also to store all types of loads in the most efficient way. Usually, special material handling machines, like forklifts, are used to load, lift, carry and stack the pallets on the pallet racks. When looking for the ideal warehouse racking system for your warehouse or production facility, you need to consider three factors:
Determine The Size Of The Loads: First, you need to measure the height, width and the depth of your load. When measuring, leave a little space between the pallets for easy placement and free movement when loading/unloading the pallet racking. Also, measure the weight of the load you are handling in your warehouse. This is important to make sure that the rack will provide the required capacity. Also, consider the weight of the pallets.
Choose The Beam And Upright: To make sure that your pallet racking will hold your loads, pay attention on the beam. If you use standard pallets, calculate the beam width by considering the size of your pallets and loads. The upright is also very important factor, and you must consider the load type in order to make the best racking choice. It indicates how many shelf levels you need, and it can be determined by using the pallet height. In order to select the correct upright, consider the load capacity because it is based on the depth of your pallets.
Install Your Pallet Racking: Once the size of the loads is considered, and the beam and upright selected, you can determine how many beams and uprights you can afford in your warehouse. The upright can be also used as a connector for more racks, and you can add as much beams as you need to store your loads.
