You can accurately measure temperature with a bi-metal thermometer as well. Compared to other thermometers, this one consists of two metal strips that have different thermal coefficients. These types of thermometers are not just hermetically sealed, but have strong stainless steel exterior that allows users to read a wide range of temperatures from various angles with great accuracy. HVAC technicians and plumbers are the most common users of these bi-metal thermometers. However, bi-metal thermometers are also frequently used in other industries like pyroprocessing, die cutting, and welding.
With this type of industrial thermometer, you need to use either alcohol or some type of gas to accurately measure temperatures. Available in stainless steel or glass, this type is less favorable than the bi-metal, infrared or digital models.
